Steph writes a book

I haven’t been writing much here lately because I have been busy writing elsewhere. When I was working on my private pilot’s certificate, there was one resource I really wanted. And it did not exist. So, I thought, why not just write it.

When I started, I thought I could knock this sucker out in about three weeks. That was seven months ago. I told my son, Daniel, this when I finished. His comment: “I have always admired your optimism about how quickly you think you can get things done.” Not sure if he was looping the airplane build into that. I am still pretty sure I can get it done in a few more months.

Anyway, here is my first book!

It is the book that I wanted to have when I was studying and I am pretty darn proud of it. The cover picture is my home airport, taken by Alex Randle, one of the young women from my EAA chapter. I was flying while she was snapping pictures. It was an interesting day. To get the pictures I wanted, I had to fly opposite the direction and about 500 feet above the base leg for the most popular runway. We made appropriate radio calls and everyone knew where we were (and who we were, so that helped) and I ended up with this gorgeous picture! Alex is a budding aviation photographer. Her love for airplanes is infectious and we had a great time. Fun story, we somehow lost the oil door during this flight. So if you see a tiny speck of white on the ground, let me know, because that is probably it.

In other news, I am now a flight instructor teaching at the Greeley Flight School. The transition from law to flight is almost complete!

Off to the monthly EAA meeting. Did I mention I am also president of the local EAA chapter. Yes, I am trying to slowly take over my little corner of the world. So far, so good.

The book is available at my website http://www.heyimapilot.com. May your ceilings be high and your visibility unlimited!
