I know a lot of builders who have said build as much as you can at home. It’s convenient. You can just go to the garage or basement and get some work done. I would not be one of those builders. I can talk myself into going inside for a snack, or a book, or a nap. So I have moved the entire build to my hangar. Also, I like that it sounds pretty cool to say, “I am going to my hangar.”

Tom assembled a crew to move everything. He and a couple of former mock trial kids loaded the crate and the giant air compressor into his truck and off we went. It cost me burgers and milkshakes. They believe they were overpaid. I love these kids.
I have spent the last few days building work tables and I love them more than I should. They are from the EAA pattern. If you need work tables, you cannot go wrong with these. I modified them slightly but the pattern is so good. Those clamps from Harbor Freight might be my new favorite things. I may have had to go get several more in various sizes.

I suffered one casualty. One of my favorite drill bits. I am now very annoyed that my set has a missing piece. I will be obsessing over finding a matched replacement. I am not posting a picture of the set. It is far too disturbing.

So everything is nicely organized and I have no excuses left to get this project started and finished. Except the laser cut parts that Van’s is testing. If you know, you know. I have gone through all my plans and highlighted every part that may have any issue. There is still plenty to do for now. And if I run out of things, I can just kill time buying more tools.

Just in case anyone was wondering, I did not win the latest $1.5 billion lottery. So this space is not heated or air conditioned. I need to put some thought into that. I don’t know how builders in Texas are doing it with the 108 degree days. I will take 8,000 feet density altitude over that any day.

For now, I am enjoying just standing back and basking in the glow. My hangar. Now to fill it with my plane.
